Why do you coach at MNP Community & Sport Centre?
I’m here because MNPCSC 3433 Sport Performance is the premier hub for triathlon and endurance training in Calgary. It’s one thing to send a plan to an athlete’s phone; it’s another thing entirely to coach them in person at a world-class facility. Being on the floor here allows me to dial in the technical details of a workout and ensure that the work we do in the gym or the pool translates directly to the road. It’s about providing that high-level, in-person touch that every serious athlete needs to reach the next level.

What is your favourite part of Sport?
My favourite part is the moment when an athlete realizes they are capable of significantly more than they originally thought. Whether it’s hitting a power number they used to think was impossible or mastering the discipline to show up when things get tough, watching that mental shift happen is the ultimate win for me as a coach.

What is on your bucket list of challenges/races and why?
I’ve spent years competing in Sinister Sports events and various endurance challenges across North America. However, the current item on my bucket list is a major mountain ultra in Norway. It is a personal goal to test myself on that specific, rugged terrain and connect with my heritage in a landscape that truly demands your best effort.

What super human power would you have and why?
I’d take the ability to freeze time, specifically for my athletes. Most of the people I coach are dedicated athletes balancing demanding careers and busy families. Being able to “pause” the clock so they could get an extra hour of sleep or a stress-free training session without the “chaos” of the day catching up to them would be an ultimate coaching tool

How do you create the best coaching experiences for your athletes?
I create the best experience by building a plan with the athlete that is designed to survive the reality of a busy life. I take a holistic approach to performance, ensuring that training, recovery, and life-balance are all pulling in the same direction. By utilizing the 80/20 methodology and being ready to pivot the moment “life happens,” I make sure my athletes show up to the start line healthy, prepared, and ready to execute.
